Portuguese Ecological House

The bioclimatic architecture design criteria of construction are aimed at reducing the environmental impact by improving the thermal insulation and reduce the energy bill.

Portugal has a climate favourable to the adoption of the principles of bioclimatic architecture.

The orientation of the south façades, the use of shading systems to protect from the direct sun use of windows that allow the aeration tilt reduce energy consumption and improve comfort.

The shape of the building and insulation such as window-frames insulation and double glazing, protect of the heat and of the cold.

Creating mirrors of water along the exterior walls of the house, the air temperature around decreases, when water is evaporates.

Some of the techniques used in constructing the walls accumulate allow the heat from the sun during the day, transmitting it to the inside during the night.

To prevent the entry of direct sunlight through the windows and protect the exterior walls of excessive heat, uses up the vegetation that protects the wind and oxygenate the air.

Despite new rules governing the construction, lack the incentive on the part of governments for the implementation of solutions aimed at the reduction of energy consumption which would benefit both the countries.

Norwegian Environmental house

The Swan label is the official Nordic environmental label. It is based on the logo to the Nordic counsel, and the arrangement includes Norway , Sweden , Finland , Iceland and Denmark .

Nordic Environmental labeling has a goal to reduce the total environmental burden.

Solar cell an apparatus who transforms the sunbeams to electricity. The cells are often blue, because:

Blue catches more of the radiation that for example white. White reflects much of the energy back.  Blue takes up more of the energy because it's the colour nearest the wavelength of the strongest beams.

Brown and black are also used, but they aren't so effective.

1

Advantages

Does not hurt the environment.

Doesn't even stop when the sun goes down.

Don't make any noise.

Can be placed where the electricity is needed, so you don't need to bring the electricity from one place to another.

Can be built in any size.

Cheap to repair.

1

Disadvantages:

Solar cell panel is 5 – 10 times more expensive than electricity from hydroelectric power.

Someone think it's ugly.

Windpower it modifies the kinetic power from the wind, into electricity.

This process is what’s going on inside the windmills. The energy is collected and modified by a dynamo. The power of the wind is unstable. The energy we get out of it depends on how much it’s blowing.

1

Advantages

Windmill is a renovating energy source.

Windmills are environmental way to get energy.

They do not hurt the environment.

1

Disadvantages

The windmills is high and easy to see, and isn't very pretty.

The windmills kill birds, when they collide with the mills.

Windmills make a lot o f noise.

Heat pumps are used to worm up houses etc. They are using electrical  power.

Earth, rocks and water makes water magazines. Energy from these can be collected and modified by modern heat pumps.

The energy from heat pumps can be used to housewarming and to heat up water.

70-90% of a normal energy need for a house can be covered by heat pumps.

1

Advantages

Environmental; less CO2

Fornybar energy.

Reduce the total energy consumption in a normal house.

Can be used all the year: Heating in the winter, cooling in the summer.

1

Disadvantages

Quite expensive to buy and install.

Have to have another energy source. It doesn’t cover all the need in a house.

Complicated technology what require professional help.

Expensive conservations.

Most fitted for detached houses.

Small effort to a more environmental house

Windows in south.

Porthole which reduce the water consumption.

Use materials which can be used over again.

Water saving toilets.

Put the garbage in order.
